Hobson Prior are working alongside a well-established biotech organisation who have an opening for an Associate Scientist/Scientist (Molecular and Cell Biologist - Target Validation) to join their team on a permanent basis. Our client is focused on producing therapies to treat serious illnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • For this position, you will be responsible for developing, authenticating, and applying primary and co-culture screening assays in 2D and 3D systems using primary cells and cell lines.
  • Add contributions to project progression using primarily cell-based screening and profiling assays to support validation and MOA studies including biomaterial development (human extracellular matrix scaffolds) from a range of tissues.
  • You will play a key role in the approach and the managerial process to support target validation and appropriate data packages.
  • Self-sufficiently work mediating meticulously with colleagues within and across functional groups to guarantee that all deadlines are being met.
  • Uphold clear and efficient communication, organisation, interpret, and present results, as well as contribute to reports where applicable.
  • Know the Qualifications and Competencies.

Key Skills:

  • Work well in a team environment and exhibit solid written and verbal communication skills, as well as IT skills.
  • Skilled at troubleshooting, methodical, well organised, a high attention to detail, principally in relation to record keeping.
  • Time-management skills and aims to meet deadlines given.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 year of industry experience executing laboratory research in either a biotech/pharma or CRO atmosphere.
  • For this role, you will possess a BSC or a MSc with familiarity in either Biomedical sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or in related areas.
  • Exceptional experience working with cell culture (primary cells and cell lines) and familiarity with basic molecular biology methods.
  • Knowledge in at least one or more of the following: FACS cell sorting, tissue engineering, 3D culture systems, high content screening platforms, fluorescence microscopy, target knockdown using si/shRNA approaches.
  • Prior experience in multi-cellular and/or 3D culture systems would be an advantage but not essential to the role.
  • Familiar with two or more areas of the following: recombinant DNA techniques, protein expression, CRISPR, multi-colour flow cytometry, isolation and identification of immune cells would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge with mammalian cell-based assays e.g. binding and blocking assays, reporter assays, signalling assays.
