Hobson Prior is seeking a creative and highly motivated Expert in Process Development for AAV with experience in the development of novel AAV host cell and process for production platform technology. The successful candidate will utilise their experience to establish and optimize processes for the advancement of AAV production platform in the discovery space to support the gene therapy portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Implement new technologies to improve efficiency.
• Contribute to the in-house capability set up for AAV production (process, formulation, assay).
• Participate in the development of novel host cell-line from ideation to commercialisation for AAV production platform technology.
• Perform hands-on lab work including conventional AAV production cell/vector/process, scale up, and cell engineering.
• Analyse raw data and summarise technical consequences with in-depth scientific insight, routinely present data package.
• Create technical reports and relative documentation.
• Collaborate with groups across the organisation to develop processes compatible with existing internal knowledge and infrastructure.
• Constantly survey and report the trends of cutting-edge technologies.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• Master degree or advanced degree in (Molecular) Biology, Biochemistry, Virology, Genetic engineering, Protein engineering, Life science or other relevant discipline.
• A good R&D technological background in molecular biology and relevant cell culture techniques.
• Advanced experience of cell-line engineering using recombinase mediated integration and gene editing technologies with interpretation of NGS data.
• Experience of phenotypic characterisation of edited cell lines with relevant assays.
• Experience of conventional AAV production (USP, DSP) and scale up (50 - 200 L).
• Significant knowledge and understanding of expression host cell development and process development optimisation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of discovery and development of AAVs as therapeutics.
• Excellent organisation and communication skill with in-depth scientific insight to collaborate with other experts.
• Ability to plan, organise, problem solve, work efficiently independently and in a team.
