Hobson Prior are seeking for a Virology Assistant to join a brilliant pharmaceutical corporation on a contract basis. Our client is focused on providing life-changing therapies for various illnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

• For this role, you will manage nucleic acid and protein extraction from cell cultures and animal tissue samples.
• Support scientists with additional practices while under supervision.
• Handle data analysis and comprehension, such as Excel, Graphpad, PRISM, etc.
• You will write research reports derived from the conducted studies in a team.
• Recognise innovative drug targets and develop strategies to exploit those targets.
• Accountable for PCR based analysis such as real time, digital droplet etc., of both cellular and viral gene expression.
• The ideal candidate will manage western blot-based determination of protein expression levels.
• Handle ELISA based supervising of protein levels in animal sera and cell culture supernatants.
• Any other assigned duties.

• Able to work well in a team with a focused approach to scientific research.
• An organised individual with the ability to plan.
• Communication skills both verbally and in writing.

Requirements:

• Educated to a degree level in a biology or similar field.
• At least 2 years of experience in performing research in virology.
• Master degree level associates are encouraged to apply for the role.
• Familiarity working within a pharmaceutical organisation.
• Capable of performing modern molecular virology/biology experiments as part of a team.
• When needed, you are willing to work under BSL2/3 conditions with infectious agents.
• Familiarity with molecular virology.
• Acquaintance with PCR based detection of gene.
• Past involvement in protein level determination by western blot and ELISA based assay.
• Former involvement in mammalian cell culture, as well as nucleic acid and protein extraction from cell and tissue samples and quantification.
• Acquaintance with hepatitis B virus would be advantageous.
• Fluency in the English language.
• Past hepatitis B vaccination.
