Hobson Prior are currently looking for an USP Process Development Scientist to join a brilliant biotech organisation on a permanent basis located in London. Our client is focused on engineering remedies that have the possibility to cure people suffering from serious illnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • For this role, to assist with process modifications and tech transfer actions, you will display experimental data to numerous divisions within the company.
  • Sustain cell cultures habitually in shaker flasks.
  • Contribute to routine upkeep of laboratory apparatus.
  • You will design and assist the lab experiments within the USP development team, targeting to scale-up, strengthen and advance the sturdiness of in-house AAV manufacturing operations at the company.
  • To assist USP optimisation and material production for DSP development and analytical characterisation actions, you will work the bioreactors at 250ml to 50l scale.
  • To cultivate process comprehension, guarantee reproducibility and sturdiness, the ideal candidate will partake in the consistent gathering of process data.
  • Plan SOPs and Work instructions for lab equipment and for the unit operations that are being industrialised.
  • The ideal candidate has the possibility of attending crucial Gene Therapy / Bioprocess Conferences to assist the organisation's knowledge and serve as a delegate for the company.
  • Any other assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • Educated to an advanced degree level in a bioprocess/biochemical/chemical engineering or biochemistry discipline, with at least 1-2 years of experience in process development within a biotech organisation.
  • Know-how of engineering protocols for design and scale-up of upstream bioprocess operations.
  • Experience with GMP and QbD deliberations within a large-scale manufacturing setting.
  • Comprehension and acquaintance with statistical and modelling software and tools, for example, DoE and statistical tests such as ANOVA, t-test.
  • Familiarity with cell culture and aseptic management techniques.
  • Previous involvement with handling DNA and protein quantification assays, for example, qPCR, ELISA, Picogreen.
  • Programming languages experience, for example, VBA, Python, SQL or Matlab is ideal but not necessary.
