Hobson Prior are seeking for a Senior Scientist/Research Scientist to join a Biotech organisation in London on a permanent basis. Our client is determined to develop treatments who can save patients' lives.
Please note that to be considered for this role you must have the right to work in this location.
Key Responsibilities:
- In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the performance of routine maintenance of the Lab.
- Responsible for identifying and testing opportunities to simplify our laboratory discovery platform.
- You will be developing and drafting SOPs/ Work instructions for the unit operations that are being developed.
- Drive innovation and challenge conventional assumptions to ensure the company stays on the leading edge of assay development (i.e., potency assays) and preclinical development.
- Develop and implement new technologies/projects which enhance our R&D operations (i.e., vector development).
- Completion of Experiments within provided budget & Timelines.
- Support the development of the emerging R&D wet lab facility.

Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in biochemistry or biology with experience in neurosciences.
- You will have a MSc degree in biological discipline or equivalent and 2 years of academic/ biotech industry experience in molecular biology work, process development.
- You will have a BSc degree in biological discipline or equivalent and 4 years of academic/ biotech industry experience in molecular biology work, process development.
- Extensive experience with basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA/RNA preparations, western blotting, WES)
- Experience with CNS/Neuroscience-based research, especially retina and/or brain
- Experience with tissue culture techniques. Use of both immortalised and primary cell lines
- Experience with histological processing and analysis (i.e., processing of samples for cryosection and immunohistochemistry)
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement at the individual, department, and organizational levels.
- Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies/techniques.
- Experience with experimental design, with an understanding of process validation.
