Hobson Prior are currently seeking a Senior Scientist Molecular and Cell Biology to join a fantastic pharmaceutical organisation on a permanent basis located in London. Our client is focused on producing new and better remedies to treat serious illnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • For the role of Senior Scientist Molecular and Biology, you will be accountable for the development, authentication, and application of key and coculture screening assays in 2D and 3D systems using primary cells and cell lines.
  • Anticipated to perform self-sufficiently mediating directly with colleagues within and across functional groups to guarantee deadlines are met.
  • You will play a key role in the strategy and the decision-making process to support target validation and appropriate data packages.
  • Participate to the project progression by means of primarily cell-based screening and profiling assays to support endorsement and MOA studies involving biomaterial development (human extracellular matrix scaffolds) from a variety of tissues.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for upholding clear and effectual communication, collate, understand, and display results, and provide support to reports where appropriate.

Key Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will be expected to operate well within a team and have solid written and verbal communication skills, as well as IT skills.
  • Skilled at troubleshooting, methodical, well organised, and capable of paying close attention to detail, predominantly with regards to record keeping.
  • Robust time-management skills and an aptitude to function towards set deadlines.

Requirements:

  • For this position, you will have obtained a PhD or MSc with well-established experience in Biomedical sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or associated subjects.
  • At least 5 years of working experience conducting laboratory research in either a scholarly or biotech/pharma corporate setting.
  • Exceptional operational experience of cell culture (primary cells and cell lines) and familiarity with rudimentary molecular biology procedures.
  • Prior experience in at least one or more of FACS cell sorting, tissue engineering, multi-cellular and/or 3D culture systems, high content screening platforms, fluorescence microscopy.
  • Past experience with mammalian cell-based assays e.g., reporter assays, signalling assays.
  • Strong knowledge of two or more of the following areas: Lentiviral, CrispR, ELISA, multiplex assays, multi-colour FACS, isolation of immune cells would be a further advantage, however, wouldn't be essential to the role.
