Senior DNA Purification Scientist

Hobson Prior is looking for a Senior DNA Purification Scientist to join a biotechnological company on a permanent basis. Our client is focused on the making of DNA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Amplify custom DNA constructs in E.coli and purify them using various resin based purification columns.
• A big focus will be on optimising parameters and developing new processes to generate high quality material at various scales, with reproducible results.

Key Skills:

• All candidates should possess clear communication and presentation skills and an ability to work effectively as an individual and in a team environment.
• Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate strong proficiency in organising and managing their work and delivering results to established timelines.
• Applicants should be well-versed in gel electrophoresis apparatus for DNA analysis and software for sequence analysis.

Requirements:

• Applicants should have a degree level qualification in molecular biology (or similar discipline) with several years of experience in handling bacterial cultures and working on DNA purification techniques.
• Must have a strong understanding of the requirements to optimise bacterial growth for both yield and purity.
• Strong experience with DNA purification techniques at varying scales, using kits and/ or self-packed hardware is highly desired.
• Knowledge of running restriction digests, agarose gels and analysing data is a must.
• Experience in aseptic technique and controlled environments with prevention of cross -contamination.
• Familiarity with industry quality standards such as ISO/ cGMP is desirable.
• Experience working within a Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) or Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) environment is highly advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to design experiments independently and document key information in report formats.
• The successful candidate will be bringing ideas to life, and must therefore be engaged with science, adaptable to new approaches, and eager to work within a fast-moving team.
