Hobson Prior are looking for a Scientist in Neuroimmunology to join a brilliant biotech organisation on a contract basis located in Basel with flexible working available. Our client is focused on dispensing life-changing therapies for major illnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • For this role, you will be accountable for investigating, developing and executing new cell functional assays using human iPSC-derived/primary microglia as well as rodent microglia to test and compare efficiency of small molecules.
  • You will develop, implement, and assess transcriptomic and proteomic readouts from cells and pre-clinical models to characterise small molecule compounds.
  • Influence an amalgamation of biochemical tactics to analyse cellular pharmacology.
  • The ideal candidate will develop, apply and examine ex vivo slice assays and in vivo models to evaluate the target biology and test compounds.
  • Corroborate SOPs, adapt new protocols from literature and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Operative efficiently with internal collaborators across the company to advance the project.
  • Display data to the project team and at section and departmental meetings.

Requirements:

  • Obtained a Master's degree or PhD in (neuro)-immunology, cell/molecular biology or biochemistry.
  • Proficiency operating with key rodent glial cultures, as well as iPSC derived model systems.
  • You are skilled in developing strong and reproducible cell functional assays.
  • A familiarity with basic biostatistical data analysis is advantageous, but not essential to the role.
  • Comprehensive practical experience with numerous gene expression, immunoassay, and molecular profiling methods applied to cells and brain tissues (human and rodents).
  • Qualified for performing in vivo animal experiments (e.g. LTK1) is required. Not most critical. Knowledge in in vivo animal dosing, perfusion, tissue collection and planning for biochemical and immunoassays is an advantage, but not crucial to the role.
  • You are able to independently design, implement, and evaluate experiments.
  • Highly capable of speaking and writing in the English language.
  • Having previous experience in drug discovery R&D in neuroscience is an advantage for the role, but not essential.
  • Former experience in cellular pharmacology is a benefit but not essential to the role.
