Hobson Prior are seeking a Peptide Scientist to join a fantastic pharmaceutical business on a permanent basis located in Basel. Our client is focused on engineering next-generation protein therapeutics with the help of its innovative technology platform.
Please note that to be considered for this role you must have the right to work in this location.
Key Responsibilities:
- For the position of Peptide Scientist, you will be accountable for designing, preparing and implementing projects in peptide and protein synthesis.
- Plan and prepare special building blocks for the synthesis of problematic and complex peptides.
- Handle and collaborate with some scientific associates.
- You will coordinate with in-house and external CRO teams to instigate projects in a timely and dependable manner.
- Practical synthesis of peptides from mg to gram scales by mechanical and manual solid phase peptide synthesis methods.
- Decontamination of peptides by analytical, preparative HPLC and all associated approaches.
- As the Peptide Scientist, you will be responsible for classifying and executing novel methods for decontamination of peptides.
- Classification of peptides by modern mass spec, sequencing and any other correlated methods.
- Cautious and industrious documentation of research results to guarantee duplicability and compliance.
- The ideal candidate will carefully handle and systematise raw materials and synthesised materials together with associates and colleagues.
- Formulate project reports and presentations for team meetings and deliberations.
Requirements:
- Accomplished a PhD with specialisation in peptide synthesis.
- At least 3-5 years of practical experience in peptide synthesis, both solid phase and solution phase synthesis.
- Prior experience in concocting modified peptides of various lengths in batch and parallel processes.
- Former experience in planning and synthesis of special monomers for peptide synthesis.
- Previous experience in peptide scale-up and acquaintance with cGMP production is advantageous but not essential to the role.
- Capable of achieving independent tasks in coordination with a team of researchers in a timely manner.
- Strong ability to organise and manage research with small team to meet crucial deliverables.
- You are comfortable in organising and operating collaboratively with CRO's.
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills with a command of spoken and written English.
