Medicinal Chemist

Hobson Prior are working with a newly established organisation who are focused developing products to treat sold cancers by using an innovative technology platform. This position will join them on a permanent basis in Stevenage.

Job Responsibilities:

• You will uphold a high level of knowledge and skills in technical R&D areas related to Antibodies and Antibody-drug conjugates.
• Carry out laboratory R&D using Good Laboratory and Safety Practice.
• Produce robust and accurate experimental reports, have organised electronic data management, prepare risk assessments, SOPs, batch reports and internal/external study reports as required.
• Co-operate with contract research organisations and participate in multiple projects as required.
• Communicate technical knowledge both internally and externally, with staff and collaborators at internal meetings, presentations and conferences.
• You will attend internal and external meetings as required, presenting data using PowerPoint.

Requirements/Key Skills:

• BSc/MSci degree in Chemistry.
• Relevant PhD in a medicinal, synthetic or organic chemistry discipline.
• A minimum of 2 years' post-doctoral experience or least 5 years' post-graduate experience in a biotechnology/industrial environment.
• In-depth understanding of theoretical and practical synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry particularly in the area of small molecule cytotoxins and their functionalisation.
• Industrial experience of natural product synthesis and functionalisation is desirable as well as molecular modelling and SAR.
• Ability to devise and carryout multi-step synthetic medicinal chemistry independently and apply appropriate analytical and purification techniques.
