Mechanical Engineer

Hobson Prior are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading pharmaceutical organisation where you will join their team developing the next generation of lab-on-a-chip devices and systems on a contract basis in Oxford.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support late-stage development of the company's instrumentation product and verification testing of the instrumentation and system.
• Perform theoretical examination of mechanical and thermal features and components including modelling and simulation as necessary.
• Design mechanical and thermal features of the company's product components and systems including liaising with external suppliers.
• Propose and implement experimental studies to assess the performance of product components and features.
• Create and assess test plans for the verification of product components and systems.
• Design and commission jigs, fixtures and other equipment required for development and verification testing.

Key Skills:

• Background of successfully developing complex mechanical and thermal systems for use in scientific instrumentation products, or similar.
• In depth knowledge of general mechanical engineering principles and practices.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, sometimes under high pressure situations.
• Prior involvement working within a Quality Management System.

Requirements:

• Degree educated with a minimum pass rate of 2:1(hons) in Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, ideally from a leading university.
• Expertise in CAD software for mechanical design.
• Experience of computational analytical and/or numerical modelling techniques.
• Prior use of SolidWorks would be advantageous.
