Hobson Prior is seeking an Animal Care Specialist for a role focused on providing care and support to animals within a research setting. This role involves managing supplies, conducting animal inventories, and ensuring the well-being of the animals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to animals in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures and study requirements.
• Handle the receipt, storage, and distribution of essential research supplies.
• Conduct regular animal inventories and ensure that animal identification cards are up-to-date.
• Oversee the program for animal grooming and conduct physical exams on animals within the facility and those housed off-site.
• Ensure the environmental enrichment of the animals.

Requirements

• Experience working with animals.
• Good communication skills.
• Certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
