DNA Purification Scientist

Hobson Prior are in search for a DNA Purification Scientist to join a fantastic biotechnical organisation on a permanent basis located in Hampton. Our client is focused on the making of DNA.

Please note that to be considered for this role you must have the right to work in this location.

Key Responsibilities:

• Production of high-quality plasmid DNA preps, to standards suitable for use in GMP manufacture.
• Working on yield optimizations.
• Training other members of staff (when competent).
• Material approvals.
• Purchasing and inventory.
• Documentation for plasmid production in alignment with QMS (SOPs, Manufacturing Instructions, risk assessments) and QC release.
• QC release assays for plasmid DNA (restriction digests, AGE, sequencing, endotoxin etc.).
• Project transfer to Manufacturing.
• Calibration & maintenance of pDNA lab equipment.
• pDNA lab cleaning and maintenance.
• Report writing.
• Lab book entries.
• Technical training.
• Quality Management System training.
• Storage of client DNA.
• Development and optimization of new and current processes.
• Any other assigned duties.

Key Skills:

• Good IT skills including the use of software like SnapGene Viewer and Lasergene; good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; ability to update production databases, stock control systems or ERP.
• Excellent Problem-Solving skills.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.

Requirements:

• Ensuring and maintaining high standards of H&S.
• Ability to follow SOPs and to complete Manufacturing Documentation (lab books, forms, logbooks, process instructions).
• Good team player.
• Proactive and able to organize their own work with continuous improvement mind set.
• Reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
