Hobson Prior are recruiting for a CMC mRNA Lead to join a biotech organisation on a permanent basis in London. This is an opportunity with prospects for career progression as the organisation and function continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This role will play an important role in the process development group with a primary focus on mRNA as a final product.
  • Leading a team focussed on the manufacturing development, optimisation of processes, supporting industrial scale up and technical transfer of methods.
  • This is initially a lab-based role where the successful applicant will spend time at the laboratory bench conducting and directing experiments as well as managing and growing a team.
  • This position will be highly collaborative, within the CMC function and also with production and research/discovery teams.
  • This role will be expected to interact with clients, outside collaborators and contractors as required.

Requirements:

  • A BSc qualification in Biochemistry / Protein chemistry / Molecular Biology/other relevant discipline.
  • 5 years minimum relevant industrial experience 3 of which in an mRNA focussed CMC/process development role in a pharmaceutical setting ideally a CDMO.
  • Experience of production and purification of mRNA.
  • Understanding of analytical tools for characterisation of mRNA.
  • Familiarity with bioprocessing techniques, such as chromatography, tangential flow filtration and filtration.
  • Competent in standard Molecular Biology techniques such as cloning, PCR. mutagenesis and in related specialised DNA characterisation techniques.
  • Experience in keeping accurate and thorough records of laboratory experiments as well as experience of writing technical reports to a good standard.
