Hobson Prior are seeking for a Cell Line Development to join a fantastic biotech organisation on a permanent basis located in Timaru. Our client is focused on providing proven products and abilities.
Please note that the client is able to supply visas/sponsorships for this role if you are from the UK or Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- For this position, you will partake in the development of new technologies in the upstream processing team as well as the development of intellectual property when able to.
- Responsible for ensuring the safety and health of themselves and others around them within the work setting.
- Prepare and handle experiments for CLD process optimisation, which involves construct design, fermentation parameters and media optimisation.
- You will form and uphold scaled-down models of cell culture production procedures.
- Manage commercial manufacturing assistance/improvement.
- Accountable for stable cell line production, characterisation, monoclonal selection, and master cell bank production.
- The ideal candidate will develop scalable mammalian cell culture procedures, as well as subsequent technology/process transfer to GMP clinical manufacturing.
- Contribute to scientific meetings with clients.
- Any other assigned duties.

Requirements:
- Educated to an advanced degree level in a biochemical engineering/chemical engineering or similar field with at least 5+ years of experience in a pertinent work setting.
- Prior involvement with mammalian cell culture within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology organisation which involves suspension CHO cell line development.
- Acquaintance with mammalian gene expression systems, gene editing and/or 'omics technologies.
- Familiarity with genetic characterisation method experience such as ddPCR, qPCR, etc.
- Past involvement with the operation and analysis of multiple bioreactor systems such as rocking mode, stirred tank, etc., at multiple scales.
- Lab abilities.
- Acquaintance with guiding projects or project sub-teams and/or handling contract relations.
- Able to adjust self to a fast-paced, objective-focused setting with the willingness to advance and widen skills.
- Computer Literacy in MS Office such as Word, Excel, etc.
- Familiarity with multiple statistical packages and DNA databases.
