Hobson Prior is seeking an Animal Technician to join a biotechnology organization for an exciting 6-month contract. In this role, you will focus on providing high-quality animal care and welfare while supporting in vivo studies. You will work in compliance with internal standards and external regulations, applying the principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) to all aspects of your work.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily care tasks for rodents and pigs, ensuring their well-being and welfare.
• Support breeding and maintenance of specific animal models, such as transgenic mice.
• Conduct technical procedures, including collecting biological samples, weighing animals, and administering medicines or compounds.
• Maintain accurate daily records for animals and their environment.
• Assist with routine facility operations, such as cleaning and maintaining equipment and caging systems.
• Work flexibly across different areas and provide weekend or out-of-hours support when needed.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• Experience working with rodents or a strong interest in animal care and welfare.
• Understanding of laboratory animal science concepts, particularly animal welfare and the 3Rs.
• Relevant education, such as Naturbruksgymnasium or equivalent.
• Laboratory animal training (e.g., NCLASET or similar) is preferred but may be optional with proven experience.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently to a high standard.
