Progression and reward - Banner.png

What is a HireVue interview?

As part of the application process for our current vacancies, we ask applicants to complete an online video interview. This will be conducted via HireVue, a leading platform used by global brands such as Vodafone, Nike and Random House. The interview is on-demand, meaning you can complete it at a time to suit you, in the comfort of your own home.

Why video interviews?

Video interviews are an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your enthusiasm, charisma and verbal skills, all of which are essential to working at Hobson Prior. It also gives us the information we need to assess your suitability for the job, and enables us to process your application quickly and efficiently.

What will I need to do?

Using a device such as a webcam, smart phone or tablet, you’ll need to listen and record answers to a number of interview questions. There will be around five questions in total, and you will have up to three minutes to answer each one (although you don’t have to use all this time). Once you begin your interview, the HireVue platform will give you step-by-step instructions, which you should read carefully. There will also be the opportunity to do a practice questions to help you become familiar with the technology.

Please note that you can stop the interview between questions and return to it later using the link in your email invitation. However, once you have listened to a question, you must answer it immediately.

How should I prepare?

Conducting the interview

  • Find a quiet, tidy place with few distractions
  • Ensure no-one else in the house will interrupt you (if they do, stay calm and ask them to come back later)
  • Ensure the camera is level with your face and not too close
  • Give clear and succinct answers
  • Try to demonstrate an understanding of our company where relevant
  • Don’t move around too much or fidget, as the viewer may find this distracting
