Hobson Prior are currently working with a biopharma organisation who are looking for a Senior Scientist - Process Technology to join them on a permanent basis in Iceland. Our client is driven to improve people's lives by producing high quality medicine.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be an SME in multiple analytical techniques and technologies, supporting and training other SMEs/peers in knowledge thereof.
  • Initiate, direct and execute scientific research and development that is critical to corporate strategies and conduct feasibility studies for assessment of new technology, including scale up into the pilot and potentially to DSM.
  • To investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and projects.
  • Maintain leading-edge knowledge and understanding of new technologies and innovations in the field and makes major contributions to internal and external scientific literature and conferences.
  • Collect and analyse data by applying existing and novel analytical methods.
  • Lead large projects, working in close collaboration with interdisciplinary project teams and form high level, effective, cross functional working relationships with support departments such as ARD, IT, Engineering, DSM, and USP/DSP/DP Development.
  • Support innovation by actively contributing the investigation of technology trends and continuous improvement of existing methods and procedures.
  • Author, complete and review documentation and write reports for cross functional review (these documents will support important purchasing decisions across the business).
  • Act as advisor to top management on advanced technical research studies and applications.
  • Support all activities within the PTI group when required that maybe outside core discipline.

Key Skills:

  • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels to get your thoughts, ideas, and knowledge across in a constructive way.
  • High level planning and organization skills to keep an overview of the necessary work and meet deadlines.
  • Works in an active, collaborative, constructive and respectful manner with all colleagues within and across departments.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years' experience within related industry is required.
  • MS with 5-10 years' experience in appropriate environment.
  • Expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts is also required.
  • Relevant applied experience and a specialist in at least one field from either Development, Analytical development, or Quality Control.
