Hobson Prior currently have an exciting opportunity for a QC Senior Bioassay Specialist to join a rapidly growing biopharmaceutical organisation on a permanent basis in North West England. Our client is focused on delivering pioneering medicines to improve lives of people all over the world.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for appropriate scheduling, testing and reporting of drug product and drug substance batches in accordance with site systems, GLP, GMP and Regulatory Requirements.
  • Accountable to mentor specialists within the team and act as a key technical contact for QC Bioassay testing.
  • Perform routine passage and plating of mammalian cell lines using aseptic technique to ensure consistent delivery of cells for use in bioassay testing.
  • Complete bioassays that appropriately reflect product mode-of-action, in support of batch release, stability and non-routine work requests. Enter results of testing into LIMS as required.
  • Use of biostatistics and data processing as it applies to bioassays, including non-linear curve fitting using 4-PL models and basic understanding of strategies for similarity/parallelism testing of bioassay curves.
  • Recognise, initiate and lead out of specification and out of trend results, unplanned event investigations and change controls in accordance with current procedures. Drive investigations to completion.
  • Represent QC in audits/inspections as a subject matter expert for key activities related to Bioassay testing.
  • Lead any investigations into technical issues associated with Bioassay testing.
  • Mentor Bioassay specialists/ associates on a case by case basis (e.g. Project work, training).
  • Lead coordination of the day to day running of the laboratory.
  • Drive laboratory equipment projects to completion e.g. Procurement, installation, validation and decommissioning.
  • You will actively troubleshoot laboratory processes and challenge ways of working to seek continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • You will have a degree or equivalent in Biology or Biochemistry.
  • Previous experience working in a pharmaceutical Bioassay laboratory.
  • Have previously worked in a Senior QC Bioassay role.
