Hobson Prior are seeking experienced Lead Technicians to provide their services on a fixed-term contract basis to an Animal Health Company. This role will include national and international travel, including extended periods in Chile.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining equipment inventory and reporting back to ensure inventory stocks are sufficient
  • Managing the offshore crew (Chemists and Technicians), focussing on creating an harmonious environment and high performing team
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation including health and safety compliance, training materials and operational performance certification
  • Providing technical direction to improve and develop the system with specific attention to improving cost effectiveness and technical performance.
  • Ensuring that technology remains at the forefront of technology and providing guidance on latest developments in the industry.
  • Being a key member of the team overseeing and troubleshooting the technical function of this system at sea and ensuring a smooth handover between shifts

  • Strong decision maker, ability to work well under pressure and act in the best interests of the project
  • Strong record keeping ability
  • Self-starter, able to spot problems before they arise and work with a team to solve them
  • A tolerant, team player capable of spending prolonged periods of time with their team
  • Self-motivated and autonomous with effective time management abilities

Requirements:

  • Excellent English language written and verbal communicator
  • Experience in water purification, treatment or handling systems is essential
  • Experience of aquaculture an advantage
  • Formal training/education in water quality or engineering an advantage
  • Experience of offshore shift work, living and working in close proximity to others for a prolonged period
  • Experience of managing people in an offshore environment, including knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practice
