Hobson Prior are looking for a Head of Automation to join a top pharmaceutical organisation who are involved in the manufacture of human blood plasma products. This is a permanent position located in Hertfordshire. You will be part of the senior team that develops ways of working to deliver exceptional, effective and efficient service to internal customers.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Directing the technical activities of professional staff to achieve the business objectives through to the manufacturing floor as required.
  • Accountable to lead, mentor and develop the team and extended team to develop skills and knowledge at ALL levels for now and the near term.
  • You will provide technical leadership for automation to ensure a compliant and reliable supply of product and on time project execution.
  • Developing a capable team to establish a robust succession plan within and potentially outside the function.
  • Establishment of site automation strategy, standards and procedures to deliver industry best practice for future projects and obsolescence plan to mitigate risks to existing production.
  • Creation and administration of disaster recovery procedures for automated systems and proposing solutions for systems requiring replacement or upgrade.
  • Technical lead on control and automation projects providing best practice and compliance with regulatory and quality needs.
  • Support root-cause investigations for automation related issues on PLC/SCADA system.
  • Providing engineering support to commissioning and validation initiatives.
  • Undertaking of other duties to support the department as necessary.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with direct team, peers and functional leads.
  • Proven track record of analytical skills, problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Strong safety leadership.
  • Self-motivated, have good attention to detail, ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Be able to build effective internal and external relationships and be able to influence individuals across a variety of functions without a direct reporting relationship.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of direct people management experience.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles/processes and ability to translate manufacturing and technology requirements into automation/control solution.
