Genetics and GenomicsLab Technician

Hobson Prior are currently seeking a Genetics and GenomicsLab Technician to join a Swiss global healthcare organisation who are focused on offering medical solutions in order to transform patients' lives. This is for a contract position, located in Basel.

Job Responsibilities:

• Implementation of genetic and genomic analysis incl. qPCR, RNA and DNA next generation sequencing.
• Scientific and technical contribution to experimental design, analysis, and interpretation of data.
• Responsible for suitable sample storage and handling of DNA and RNA samples during analysis.
• Evaluation of innovative technologies and workflows, striving to apply the best approach to address the intended biological question
• Maintenance of lab equipment and infrastructure, ensure compliance with safety/GCP requirements
• Accountable for correct assay documentation.
• Responsibility to perform assigned tasks independently, on time and within forecasted budget
• Shows flexibility in developing skills in needed subject areas, technologies or approaches and applying them in projects to support the needs of pRED
• Presentation of own results to supervisor, team members and within the department
• Shows flexibility in working with other groups in TTB and throughout pRED to meet needs of pRED portfolio.
• Training of other technicians and/or students.

Key Skills:

• Strong problem solving and organizational skills are highly desirable.
• Familiarity with databases, tools, and resources commonly used in interpretation of genomic data is plus.
• Fluency in spoken English and good communication and presentation skills are required
• Working in interdisciplinary, multi-national teams and matrix environment.

Requirements:

• BS or MS in a relevant biological discipline preferentially along with experience in academic or industry setting.
• Strong molecular biology laboratory skills.
• Previous experience with nucleic acid sample preparation.
• Previous experience with Next-generation sequencing and sequencing data analysis.
