Hobson Prior are looking for an Antibody Purification Scientist to join the Antibody Purification Team at a leading biopharmaceutical company on a 12-month contract. You will be responsible for the production and characterisation of antibody research reagents to support all active research and early development pipeline projects at a wide range of scales (mg's to grams).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Join a high-performing team responsible for production of antibody proteins to support all research activities. They rely on platform approaches for the purification and analysis of mammalian expressed antibodies in a variety of species, isotypes and formats.
  • The APS team has strong links within Early Solutions Research, as well as therapeutic antibody process development, and is represented on all active research project teams.

  • Demonstrate good presentation, communication and data sharing skills in one to one and team meetings.
  • Organise and maintain lab equipment to high standards, including maintenance and cleaning.
  • Organise work effectively and manage time to work on multiple projects.
  • Maintain diligent record keeping of experimental methods and results via electronic laboratory notebooks and online registration system.

Requirements:

  • Purification of antibody, antibody fragment and novel antibody format biologicals from transient mammalian expression platforms, including CHO and HEK, according to agreed timelines.
  • Perform automated medium to high throughput antibody purification and analytical assays, and to understand/interpret data to support research project progression and antibody discovery.
  • Experience running AKTA/Unicorn purification systems and UPLC/Empower and/or HPLC/Chemstations analytical systems.
  • Competence in a range of protein characterisation techniques: Analytical SEC, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
  • Aid in the identification, testing and transfer of new methods/technologies in the field of protein chromatography.
  • Recognise purification and antibody quality abnormalities, alert stakeholders with observations and consider possible solutions.
  • Be willing and ready to learn new antibody purification techniques and/or refine those already acquired.
  • As a bonus, experience of mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques.
